A police sergeant was sacked from his post after he was caught verbally abusing a call center agent whom he accused of cutting the line in an eatery in San Juan City.
The video footage of the incident, surreptitiously taken via a smart phone, went viral and led to the identification of the policeman, Master Sergeant Arnulfo Ardales, assigned to the Police Community Precinct 3 of San Juan City.
Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said that he also ordered an investigation on Ardales for possible administrative cases like threat and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.
“I already ordered his relief. He will be reassigned to the District Headquarters Support Unit,” said Eleazar.
Based on the complaint lodged by the call center agent, he was buying at the eatery at around 11 p.m. on Saturday in San Juan when Ardales confronted him and started castigating him.
In the video that went viral, Ardales appeared to have been pissed off as he accused the victim of cutting the line while the cop was buying something on the eatery.
Ardales was also seen castigating the victim for disrespecting him as a police officer. While the victim had already backed out, Ardales was seen continuously verbally abusing the victim to the point of almost hitting the complainant.
At one point, Ardales was heard threatening the victim.
Eleazar said the incident will be investigated to determine what really happened. (Aaron Recuenco)
