The country’s youngest karting hope, William Go, notched his second consecutive win at the Asian Karting Open Championship’s (AKOC) MiniRok Class held at the Kartodromo de Coloane in Macau, China last weekend.

The 11-year old son of Cebu’s Wendell and Virna Go dominated the second leg by winning all races, from the time trials, qualifying, pre-final and final heats.

Go’s superb form was never challenged throughout the weekend. He now leads his class by a huge margin.

“We are very happy that our son, William, was able to win MiniRok Class again in Macau,” said his father Wendell in an interview. “First and foremost, we would like to thank the Almighty God for keeping everyone safe throughout the whole race. Thank you also to the AKOC race organizers for a successful event and all the media that came out with great articles and videos of the race. William is truly happy [about] everyone’s support!”

Go’s trouble-free run was complimented with a strong and good handling kart that was untouchable from the start. He always led his closest pursuer by at least two to three karts till the end of the event. His only problem was the changing weather conditions, ranging from tremendous heat to high humidity, at the track that sapped the strength of the other karters.

Coming in second was Yan Yu and in third, Ye Rui Heng. Both karters from China also provided the best racing action in the class. Following them were China’s Lui You De and Filipino Jolo Suba to round up the top 5.

Go now has 115 points after winning both rounds. Heng is in second with 83 points, and Yu is further down with 64. The three karters will be battling each other for the MiniRok title with three more rounds to go. The next leg will be held in the Philippines at the new Clark International Speedway Kart Track on September 21-22.
