Actor Eddie Garcia remains in ‘very critical condition’–source

THERE has been no improvement in veteran actor Eddie Garcia’s condition three days after his fall while on location shooting in Tondo, Manila.
Garcia, who has a “severe cervical fracture” or broken neck had been described in reports as being “in deep sleep” at the Makati Medical Center’s ICU.
A source who has been to visit the 90-year-old on Tuesday told The Manila Times the multi-awarded actor remained the same.
“Actually what everyone’s been reading in the papers, it’s still the same. His condition is very still very critical and he’s being helped by machines,” said the source. “The findings after the accident show he had hit his head from the fall causing injuries on the cervical spine’s C1 and C2 (vertebrae).”
The actor’s heart, however, added the source, remained very strong.
“He regularly has his heart checked especially when he knows he’ll be busy with [acting] work so his heart remains strong despite the accident.”
Only close family and friends, many from showbiz, are being allowed to visit Garcia.
Some of those who were seen in the hospital were newly elected senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and wife Lani Mercado, Jaime Fabregas, and action stars Robin Padilla and Philip Salvador who accompanied Senator-elect Christopher “Bong” Go.
Ako Bicol representatives—a party list close to Garcia, with his roots from Bicol—had also visited the actor.
