MANILA, Philippines — The Light Rail Transit System Line 1 (LRT-1) unloaded passengers at the Central Station in Manila Monday night due to “low pressure.”

The train, bound for Roosevelt Station, asked passengers to transfer to another train around 6:58 p.m.

“[The] fault was detected on the train so passengers had to be unloaded for safety,” LRT-1 Head of Corporate Communications Rochelle Gamboa told INQUIRER.net in a text message.

Gamboa explained that “low pressure” could cause a train to stop.

“Low pressure. These are 30-year-old trains. If pressure goes down, trains will stop. Before that happens, [the] train operator took precaution and facilitated [the] transfer of passengers to another train,” Gamboa said.

The LRT-1 continued operations after the incident. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
