Mindoro Oriental prosecutor survives ambush in front of his house

MINDORO Oriental Prosecutor Josephine Caranto-Olivar was shot on Monday in front of his house in Calapan City but survived the attack.
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said that he has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the failed ambush-slay by yet unidentified assailants.
“Yes, I was informed about it too. She’s still in the hospital fighting for her life,” said Guevarra, adding that there was not enough information yet as to the possible motive.
Justice Undersecretary Mark Perete said that the lady prosecutor sustained five gunshot wounds, two in the head and three in the body and has to undergo an operation. WILLIAM B. DEPASUPIL
