The Philippine National Police may summon two Catholic bishops and a former executive of the Department of Education who were among the new personalities linked by Peter Joemel Advincula, alias “Bikoy,” in the making of the “Ang Totoong Narcolist” videos.
In his sworn affidavit submitted to the PNP, Advincula claimed he met Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas, Caloocan City Bishop Pablo Virgilio David, a certain “Father Robert,” and former Education Secretary Armin Luistro in separate occasions in different universities.
Advincula claimed that the supposed meetings happened with members of the opposition Liberal Party and “Otso Diretso” candidates before the elections and the release of the Ang Totoong Narcolist videos in which he dragged President Duterte’s family members and close allies in the illegal drugs trade.
“Puwede naman silang ipatawag to shed light on the accusations being leveled against them,” said Police Gen. Oscar Albayalde, PNP chief.
However, Albayalde reiterated that they will have to determine first whether the claims of Advincula, whom the PNP once called a “peddler of fake information,” have enough bases.
“Lahat ng sinabi niya, as I have said, hindi naman natin tine-take ‘yan as the gospel truth. He has to substantiate his statements with evidence,” the PNP chief stressed. “Kami naman, kung may sinabi siya we have to evaluate and gather pieces of evidence. Kung talagang mayroon kaming makuha, then we can file cases. Hindi naman base lang doon sa salita niya,” he added.
Police Major Gen. Amador Corpus, director of the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, had earlier said they have submitted request letters to the universities where Advincula said the meetings supposedly occurred.
Corpus said they want to obtain copies of closed circuit television videos to check whether there were indeed footages of Advincula’s meeting with the four personalities he claimed he had met.
The cellphone and computer parts which allegedly contained the exchange of messages between Advincula and opposition Sen. Antonio F. Trillanes IV’s chief security officer have also been submitted to the Anti-Cybercrime Group for forensic examination. (Martin A. Sadongdong)
