DID YOU KNOW: MMDA apprehended 53,127 jaywalkers in 2018

According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, 53,127 persons were apprehended by its Anti-Jaywalking Unit in 2018.

The figure was higher than the 24,066 persons apprehended for jaywalking in 2017.

Of the total jaywalkers in 2018, 43,664 paid fines and 562 rendered community service.

A total of 8,901 others have yet to pay fines. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
