Pasig City Mayor-elect Vico Sotto wants to remove the “quota system” imposed on traffic enforcers in the city.
“Sa tingin ko ang unang kailangan gawin ay tanggalin ang quota system nila,” Sotto said in an interview over DZMM.
According to Sotto, the city’s traffic enforcers should not wait for violators to apprehend nor to be pressured to meet the number of tickets they have to issue in a month.
“Dapat mag-focus sila sa daloy ng trapiko,” Sotto said.
The 29-year-old politician said the local government will also make a system where the public could report incidents of bribery.
“Ang problema po kasi sa qouta system, pagka may quota po ‘yung enforcer, talagang napre-pressure sila na manghuli nang manghuli imbes na asikasuhin ang daloy ng trapiko,” Sotto said.
The incoming mayor earlier said he would also suspend the odd-even scheme on selected roads in the city.
The scheme bans vehicles with license plates ending with even numbers to pass through selected roads every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
While on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, vehicles with license plates ending with odd numbers are not allowed to use the thoroughfares. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas)
