THE Commission on Elections (Comelec), sitting as the National Board of Canvassers, will proclaim the winning senators and party-list groups on Tuesday, its spokesman James Jimenez said.
“I think at this point, it is a pretty sure bet that we are going to proclaim tomorrow [Tuesday],” Jimenez said in a media briefing on Monday.
With 97 percent of the (certificates of canvass) CoCs canvassed, the Commission is awaiting five more, which would account for 1,683,938 votes.
The CoCs will be coming from Isabela Province, where the Comelec is holding special elections because two vote counting machines (VCMs) in one clustered precinct in Dicamay I, Jones were burned by armed men last week.
The CoCs from Isabela Province which account for 1,050,681 votes would be delivered at about 7 p.m. on Monday at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City, the national canvassing center.
A total of 633,257 votes are coming from Japan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the United States of America.
The poll body official said that the proclamation would be done in one day— party-list groups would be proclaimed in the morning and the probable senator-elects, in the evening.
“It is just that there is going be a long intermission in between,” he said.
Rankings of senatorial candidates remain steady based on the partial and official results from 162 out of 167 certificates of canvass as of 7 p.m., Sunday, May 19.
