MANILA, Philippines—Aika and Tricia Robredo took heart in mom Vice President Leni Robredo’s wisdom in the aftermath of the elections.
The Robredos campaigned for the opposition senatorial candidates who ran under the banner Otso Diretso.
Partial and unofficial results from the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) show that no opposition bets were able to break into the top 12 of the senatorial lineup.
“Our hearts break. The fight continues. We march on,” Tricia, the Vice President’s second daughter, tweeted on Tuesday, May 14.

In another tweet, she shared a comment from her mom: “We’re made for times like this, anak.”
“Spent a substantial amount of today worrying about you as well, only to realize that I didn’t have to,” Tricia wrote. “Tougher times ahead but with you through and through.”

Aika, Robredo’s eldest, shared her mom’s advice after the elections.
“Pagod man tayong lahat sa kampanya at sa mahabang araw kahapon, sulit ang lahat dahil pinanindigan natin ang ating mga prinsipyo at paniniwala. May laban pa tayong hinaharap. Hindi pa tapos ang bilangan, at kailangan pang bantayan,” VP Leni tweeted on May 14.
(Although we are all tired from campaigning and the long day yesterday, it is all worth it because we adhered to our principles and beliefs. We still have a battle to face. The votes are not over and we need to be vigilant.)
“Always the light and the voice of reason. We soldier on. Taas noo (Head high),” Aika said.

Despite the partial and unofficial results on the national level, it seems their efforts paid off in their bailiwick of Naga City, Camarines Sur.
