THE man who identified himself to be “Bikoy,” the hooded figure who linked members and allies of President Rodrigo Duterte to illegal drug activities, is a con man who made up and sold bogus information, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Wednesday.
PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde said in an ambush interview that Peter Joemel Advincula had a history of selling from P50,000 to P70,000 worth of fake information to various government agencies for a living.
Albayalde did not name the agencies involved but said that Advincula had scammed “some senior officers.”
By revealing himself as “Bikoy,” Albayalde said it was possible that Advincula was fishing for bidders for the information he has.
“He could be looking for any bidder here. It is not far-fetched that he is looking for one…Remember, he is good at looking for any bidder so either he is looking for one or he was already paid,” Albayalde said in Filipino.
He called for an expert to validate if Advincula was the man in the viral “Ang Totoong Narcolist” videos accusing the President’s son, Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, daughter Veronica, and former top aide Christopher “Bong” Go, an aspiring senator, and for being involved in the illegal drug trade.
“We need an expert because [Advincula] did not show any proof that he is Bikoy, not even the same hood [he wore] or the tattoo that he had,” he said.
Albayalde shared that based on their profiling, Advincula left Bicol after he stole the profit from a beauty pageant contest and previously committed large-scale illegal recruitment in Baguio City.
He also said that Advincula previously claimed to his inmate in the Bilibid Prison, where he spent six years after he was convicted for estafa, that he was involved in a drug syndicate, whih had a drug laboratory in Bicol.
“[Advincula] really has a problem when it comes to me. He is notorious. Way back 2016 in the Bilibid Prison, he made an inmate believe that he is involved in a syndicate and they have a huge laboratory in Bicol and…when we verified it, it’s just a resort,” Albayalde said.
Advincula faced the public in the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) on May 6, claiming to be “Bikoy”.
He said that he came forward because he was asking for protection since his life was in danger.
