LOW-COST carrier Cebu Pacific remains unsure if operations would return to normal next month after canceling flights due to what it had described as an “unprecedented level of disruption.”

“We are still assessing May operations,” Cebu Pacific spokesman Charo Logarta-Lagamon said in a mobile message when asked if such cancellations would extend for a few more days.

This comes after the Gokongwei-led airline announced on Sunday the cancellation of several flights from Sunday to Tuesday.

Canceled on Sunday were eight flights between Manila, Legazpi, Tacloban, Davao, Bacolod, Zamboanga, Iloilo, Dumaguete and Cagayan de Oro.

Canceled on Monday were nine flights between Manila, Dipolog, Cebu, General Santos and Puerto Princesa.

The Cebu-Zamboanga and Zamboanga-Tawi-Tawi routes were also affected.

Seven flights between Cebu, Iloilo, Tacloban and Dipolog, as well as between Manila, Ozamiz, Cebu, Roxas and San Jose on Tuesday are also canceled.

This move was necessary “to create more space in our schedule for operational recovery and minimize rolling delays,” Cebu Pacific said.

“These flight cancellations should help stabilize flight timings, improve on time performance and reduce inconvenience to our passengers,” it added.

The airline also apologized for the flight schedule changes.

Affected passengers, it said, may rebook their flights for travel ravel within 30 days from the original departure date, free of charge; get a full refund; place the full cost of the ticket in a Travel Fund; or reroute to or from alternate airports for travel within 30 days, subject to the availability of seats.

“Furthermore, passengers on the canceled flights will receive [a] one round-trip travel voucher, which they can use for future flights,” it added.
