A Philippine Navy ship arrived in Busan, South Korea for maritime exercises, which other members of the Association of Southeast Nations (Asean) and allies would also participate in.

Capt. Jonathan Zata, Navy spokesman, said the BRP Andres Bonifacio (PS-17) arrived at the Busan Naval Base Pier on Saturday afternoon for the Asean Defense Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) Maritime Security Field Training Exercises 2019.

This is the second time that a Philippine Navy ship went to South Korea, with the first at Jeju Island in October last year. At the same time, it is the first for Manila to have its ship docked at Busan.

Capt. Roy Vincent Trinidad, commander of the Naval Task Group 80.6, led the Philippine contingent.

Other participants are from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar and observers from Laos; and allies South Korea, Japan, China, the United States, India, Australia, New Zealand and Russia. DEMPSEY REYES
