There is no question that Greg Louganis has done a lot for diving and the four-time Olympian is ready to help out aspiring athletes given the opportunity. And if all goes well, the 59-year-old American would be more than willing to help out Filipino divers.

“Of course, I’d love to. My feeling is we are all part of one race. It doesn’t matter what country you are from. We are all one race,” said Louganis.

Louganis emphasized that he’s willing to help anybody because he considers everyone part of one race.

“It’s about having that ability to have an impact or being a positive influence. It’s not about the country. It is more about the potential of an individual, to really cultivate that talent and give them that faith and belief in themselves,” he explained.

Louganis was the mentor for USA Diving team that saw action in the London and Rio Olympics.

Marie Dimanche, head of the Philippine national diving team, is excited about the possibility of having Louganis as the PH team’s motivator.

“It will make a difference and make an impact on the athletes’ success. The more our coaches learn, the better it is for our athletes since they have a great influence on them. They grow and transition as they progress in terms of coaching skills,” said Dimanche.

Nothing official has been set for now although Dimanche says that Louganis may hold a coaching clinic soon.
