LUCENA CITY — Police confirmed Monday that the white powdery substance inside a sealed package recovered at the island town of Burdeos in Quezon province on Black Saturday was high-grade cocaine.

Police Maj. Elizabeth Capistrano, Quezon police public information officer, citing test result from the police laboratory, said the package contained one kilo of cocaine.

“P6.8 million is the estimated amount,” Capistrano said.

On Black Saturday, a certain Raizel Anog found the package along the seashore of Barangay (village) Cabungalan fronting the Pacific Ocean. Anog surrendered the package to the local police station.

The discovery of another packed of cocaine along the coast of Quezon province was the fourth incident this year.

On Feb. 21, a brick of cocaine weighing 1.02 kilograms was surrendered by a 15-year-old boy in the coastal town of Mauban.

On Feb. 18, another pack of confirmed cocaine weighing 1.01 kilo was also found in another coastal village in the same town fronting the Pacific Ocean.

The next day, one more brick of confirmed cocaine, weighing 1.03 kilograms was found along the shore of the island town of Perez also fronting the ocean.

The three bricks of cocaine were worth close to P16 million.
