Number of poor Filipinos down in 2018

THEĀ number of poor Filipinos decreased in the first semester of 2018 compared to the same period in 2015, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Wednesday.
In a briefing, PSA said the poverty incidence among Filipino individuals in the first semester of 2018 was estimated at 21.0 percent, down from the 27.6 percent recorded in the first semester of 2015.
“This is referred to as the proportion of the population living below the poverty line to the total population,” said PSA.
Poverty incidence among Filipino families or the proportion of families whose income is below the poverty line to the total number of families,
was estimated at 16.1 percent, down from the 22.2 percent recorded in the same period in 2105. ANNA LEAH E.. GONZALES
