THE brother and alleged mastermind behind the murder of businessman Dominic Sytin refuted the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) accusations against him and maintained his innocence in the crime.

Dennis Sytin, said the allegations were a “great injustice” to the family.

“I am innocent. I did not nor did I have anything to do with the killing of my brother. Therefore, the charge against me that I masterminded his death is a great injustice to me, my wife and children and to my slain brother Dominic and our mother,” he said in a statement.

Dennis added that he was just being used as a scapegoat for the real suspects of the crime.

“I have not read the charges against me, moreso of the statements supposedly made by those who have linked me to this dastardly crime…One thing I do know: this charge against me is a brazen lie that will be exposed for what it is — a sham complaint,” he said.

Dennis admitted that he and Dominic had their differences but insisted that these would never convince him to kill his brother.

“I wish to tell my friends and relatives that as you have known me for years, I am not the kind who can kill any person let alone my own brother who despite our differences I have loved together with my other siblings,” he said.

Dennis Sytin was tagged as the mastermind behind the killing of the United Auctioneers Inc. (UAI) CEO by alleged gunman Edgardo Luib in his extrajudicial confession to police.

Luib was arrested on March 5 in Sto. Tomas, Batangas after a walk-in witness went to the Olongapo City Police Office on February 4 and identified him as the gunman.

Besides Dennis and Luib, former UAI employee Ryan Rementilla alias Oliver Fuentes and a John Doe were tagged as suspects.

According to police investigation, the motive behind the murder could be a company dispute between the siblings.

Chief Supt. Amador Corpus, PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) director, said Dennis Sytin was even barred by the guards of the company from letting him in the building.

The younger Sytin was fired from UAI on August 2015 for, among others, allegedly tranaferring funds from hus brother’s company to his own.

The PNP filed murder and frustrated murder charges against the four before the Department of Justice.

Dennis Sytin and Rementilla are still at-large while Luib is currently under the custody of the PNP-CIDG.
