66-year old man shot dead in Davao del Sur amid election gun ban

PADADA, DAVAO DEL SUR — A 66-year old man was declared dead on arrival at the provincial hospital on Saturday night after he was shot by suspects riding-in-tandem amid the implementation of election gun ban and police checkpoints established in all entrance and exit points of Davao del Sur.
The victim was identified as Felix Camarino Sarabillo, who was shot in the head around 9:00 pm., at Purok 6, Brgy. Southern Paligue.
Police investigator SPO1 Aaron Acosta on Sunday said the victim, who was also an amputee, was sitting outside the house of his neighbor which was around 30 meters away from his house while waiting for her daughter to fetch him.
He said the victim was planning to go to a masseur in Digos City when suddenly two unidentified males onboard a motorcycle stopped along the road around 35 meters away from where he was seated.
Acosta disclosed that the back rider immediately disembarked and went towards the victim and shot him in the head.
The assailants then fled towards east going to Brgy. San Isidro of this municipality while the victim was rushed to Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital at Digos City.
He said responding policemen had recovered from the crime scene two pieces of fired bullets and two pieces of fired cartridge cases believed to be from a .45 caliber pistol.
The motive of the incident is yet to be determined, Acosta added. /je
