Crime gang boss, 2 others killed in clash with police

The alleged leader of a notorious criminal group and two of its members were killed in a shootout with police in Dagat-Dagatan, Barangay North Bay Boulevard South, Navotas City Thursday.
Police identified the slain suspects as Edgar Doctolero, alias “Hike,” 47, the alleged leader of the Kambal People Armed Group; Kim Ryan Permejo, alias “Ryan,” 35; and Ernesto Gellado, Jr., alias “Unyok,” 38; all residents of the area.
Case prober Staff Sgt. Charnel Garcia said the three suspects are part of the Kambal People Armed Group, a drug-running, gunrunning, robbery, and gun-for-hire group that operates in Valenzuela City and parts of Manila.
Investigation showed that elements of the Northern Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and Special Operations Unit were about to serve a search warrant to the suspects at about 6:15 a.m. when Gellado fired at the lawmen, wounding one police officer.
Police returned fire at the suspect, killing him on the spot.
Doctolero and Permejo tried to aid their fallen companion and engaged the police in a firefight but were also killed.
Retrieved from the suspects were 67 sachets of suspected shabu worth about P150,000, two caliber .38 revolvers, a caliber .22 pistol, a firearm of undetermined caliber, and two hand grenades.
The recovered pieces of evidence were brought to the NPD for proper disposition.
The suspects’ bodies were brought to the Eusebio Funeral Homes in Malabon City for autopsy. (Minka Klaudia S. Tiangco)
