DOJ indicts ex-DOH chief Garin, et al. for Dengvaxia ‘mess’

MANILA, Philippine–The Department of Justice (DOJ) has indicted former Health Secretary Janette Garin and several others for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide for the deaths of schoolchildren linked to the controversial Dengvaxia vaccine.

Aside from Garin, the other personalities facing eight counts of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide are doctors from the Department of Health (DOH) namely Vicente Belizario Jr., Kenneth Hartigan-Go, Gerardo Bayugo, Lyndon Lee Suy, Irma L. Asuncion, Julius A. Lecciones, Maria Joyce Ducusin, Rosalind Vianzon and Mario Baquilod.

Others facing eight counts of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide are Dr. Socorro Lupisan and Dr. Maria Rosario Capeding of the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) and officials of Sanofi Pasteur Inc. Carlito Realuyo, Stanislas Camart, Jean Louis Grunwald, Jean Francois Vacherand, Conchita Santos and Jazel Anne Calvo. Sanofi is the manufacturer of the Dengvaxia shots. /jpv
