THE children of the alleged brains behind the so-called “pork barrel scam” were arraigned on Thursday on charges of graft and malversation involving the Malampaya funds in 2009 and 2010.

Janet Lim-Napoles’ children Jo and James, her brothers Reynald and Ronald Lim, and Winnie Villanueva refused to enter any plea so the court entered a not guilty plea on their behalf.

The court deferred the arraignment of former Budget secretary Rolando Andaya Jr., now Camarines Sur 1st District representative, because of a pending matter.

The court also deferred the arraignment of Napoles, who was committed to the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong after the Sandiganbayan’s Special First Division convicted her of plunder involving the misuse of lawmakers’ Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or pork barrel.

The pretrial pf the cases filed over the Malampaya funds is on April 22. REINA C. TOLENTINO
