Finders of cocaine in Quezon receive 1 sack rice

LUCENA CITY – The three persons who recovered three blocks of cocaine worth close to P16 million, which they surrendered to the authorities in Quezon province, received a sack of rice each as their reward for their good deed.

Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman, Quezon police director, said the reward was a token of appreciation and gratitude by the police.

The sacks of rice were donated by Chief Supt. Edward Carranza, director of the Calabarzon police.

A sack of premium rice is worth P2,000 in the market.

On Friday, De Guzman, citing laboratory result, confirmed that the brick of white substance surrendered by a 15-year-old boy in the coastal town of Mauban on Thursday was cocaine.

The cocaine that weighs 1.02 kilograms was worth P5.3 million in the street market at the prevailing price at P5.2 million per kilo.

The package was the third brick of cocaine recovered in Quezon.

On Monday, a pack of confirmed cocaine weighing 1.01 kilo worth P5.39 million was also found along the coast of Mauban.

The next day, one more brick of confirmed cocaine, weighing 1.03 kilograms and worth P5.3 million, was found along the shore of the island town of Perez also in Lamon Bay.

De Guzman said the three bricks of cocaine were in the custody of the police crime laboratory./lzb
