Seven sachets of dried marijuana leaves were turned over by a school security guard to the police after it was confiscated from a Grade 9 student who hid them in between pages of his notebook in Quezon City last week.
Quezon City Police District Station 4 commander, Supt. Rossel Cejas, said they have talked to school personnel and suggested the student undergo counseling.
Based on the initial police report, the student’s classmate actually saw the sachets of dried marijuana leaves clipped in his notebook during class hours Thursday.
This prompted him to report the incident to the duty guard and teachers confiscated the evidence and turned them over to authorities the following day.
According to Cejas, samples of the seized illegal drug have been brought to the crime laboratory for examination.
He added that the minor student admitted to the school counselor that he was using marijuana.
Police are now tracking down the source of the drug for possible follow-up operation as further investigation is ongoing. (Alexandria Dennise San Juan)
