A SWEDISH wanted in his country for large scale fraud and swindling cases has been arrested in his home in San Roque, Iloilo.
BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said operatives from the bureau’s fugitive search unit (FSU) and intelligence agents from the Region 7 of the Philippine National Police collared last Monday Kenneth Tobias Christoffer Moberg, 28.
He was immediately transferred to the BI detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City and will be deported shortly.
The BI chief said he issued the order for Moberg’s arrest upon the request of the Bangkok-based Nordic Police and Customs Cooperation which informed the BI that fugitive is the subject of a red notice from Interpol.
A court in Sweden had issued an arrest warrant against Morberg for his alleged involvement in multiple criminal offenses including gross fraud, attempted fraud and unlawful use of identity.
“He is also an overstaying and undocumented alien and his passport was already revoked by the Swedish government,” said BI-FSU chief Bobby Raquepo.
Raquepo said that Moberg had hidden in the Philippines since May 23, 2018 when he arrived as a tourist. He did not bother to extend his stay.
Moberg will be deported upon issuance of a summary deportation order from the BI Board of Commissioners.
He will be banned from returning for being an undesirable alien. (Jun Ramirez)
