Another year of promoting management excellence
AS it continues to promote management excellence for nation-building, the 69-year-old Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) centers its 2019 theme on “Shaping a Competitive Future.”
Anchored on its theme, MAP focuses on three key areas deemed significant in order to help shape a competitive future of the country.
First, MAP has set its eyes on advocacies as means to improve ease of doing business and Philippine competitiveness.
In addition, the association also pursues advocacies for good governance, global competitiveness, inclusive growth, climate change and sustainability.
Second, it will concentrate on programs to improve human capital in the country, such as teachers training, promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) to students, and professional development and continuing education projects in partnership with educational institutions.
And third, the association will be directing initiatives to promote inclusive growth and sustainability, such as financial literacy, encouraging the growth of SMEs (small and medium enterprises), nurturing startups and caring for the environment.
Combined, MAP aims to mold a competitive future for the country as it envisions to be the country’s leading organization committed to promoting management excellence for nation-building.
In fulfilling its vision, it renders its mission through sharing of best management practices; benchmarking with counterpart organizations in other countries; networking with other business organization here and abroad; educational activities that enhance knowledge, skills and values of management practitioners and educators nationwide; training and development programs that produce professional managers; and advocacy for reforms that help shape a brighter future for the Philippines.
MAP members, meanwhile, performs this mission guided by the association’s core values and principles of professionalism, integrity, leadership and excellence.
‘Top management practitioners’
The association takes pride in its notable membership, which comprises of over 1,000 members representing a cross-section of CEOs, COOs and other top level management practitioners coming from the big local and international companies operati ng in the Philippines.
It provides its members with networking opportunities, both local and international, to enable them to interact with one another.
Through its advocacies, members are able to share their talent, time and treasure as its contribution on improving the economy and nation-building.
Meanwhile, as one of its core values and principles, MAP supports the integrity initiative by promoting integrity and accountability in business while members vow under the Integrity Pledge that they will commit to ethical business practices and good corporate governance.
“To be a good leader is to be a good follower,” as the saying goes, and MAP urges its members to lead by example as they abide by the MAP Code of Ethics.
