Jollibee to sue China restaurant for copyright infringement

MANILA, Philippines — Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) has vowed to take legal action against a restaurant in Guangxi, China for copyright infringement after a Facebook post showing the restaurant’s  “JoyRulBee” logo went viral on Monday.

“Our legal team has been taking the necessary steps in order to protect and uphold our company’s trademark rights as what is provided for under the law,” the fast food company said in a statement released on Tuesday.

JFC said JoyRulBee has the same color and logo as Jollibee’s.

The Jollibee brand is known for its colors of red and yellow, and its bee mascot wearing a white hat.

According to the JFC, even before the post went viral, the issue has already been brought to their attention.

“The particular JoyRulBee infringing store in Guangxi, China has already been brought to the attention of Jollibee Foods Corporation even before the post went viral in social media,” it said.

The viral post of Christopher Guzman now has more than 1,500 reactions and has been shared more than 3,200. /muf
