‘Amang’ makes landfall over Siargao Island

MANILA, Philippine — Tropical Depression “Amang” made landfall over Siargao Island at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, hours after authorities implemented mandatory evacuation in several areas in the Caraga Region.

As of 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, Amang was moving northwest at 30 kph, blowing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center, with a gustiness reaching up to 60 kph, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Pagasa also raised Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 over several provinces:
- Visayas
- Eastern Samar
- Samar
- Biliran
- Leyte
- Southern Leyte
- Eastern Bohol and Northern Cebu
Mindanao
- Agusan del Sur
- Agusan del Norte
- Surigao del Sur
- Surigao del Norte
- Dinagat Islands
- Camiguin
Pagasa predicted moderate to heavy rains on Sunday over Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate.
Meanwhile, on Monday moderate to heavy rains may prevail over Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region, Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands.
On Tuesday, moderate to heavy rains may be fall over Eastern Visayas and the Bicol Region. /atm
