President Duterte has ordered the Philippine National Police to conduct a full-blown investigation on the alleged involvement of the sacked director of the Bacolod City police and four other police officers in Western Visayas to illegal drugs.
PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said that the Chief Executive gave the order after the meeting between Duterte and the five police officials in Malacañang.
“The order of the President is to let them face the investigation. They will face investigation,” said Albayalde.
Duterte, during a speech in Bacolod City last week, openly announced his order to relieve Senior Supt. Francisco Ebreo as Bacolod police director over reports that he is involved in illegal drug activities.
Citing intelligence reports, Ebreo is allegedly enabling the proliferation of illegal drugs in Bacolod by protecting policemen who are allegedly involved in illegal drugs activities.
Also relieved were Supt. Richie Makilan Yatar, Supt. Nasruddin Daud Tayuan, Senior Insp. Victor Paulino, and Senior Supt. Allan Macapagal.
Albayalde said that the investigation on the five police officials has started. They have denied the allegations being hurled against them.
“Of course they deny it kaya, that is the reason why the President said that we should conduct a full-blown investigation here and if they will be found guilty, they will be discharged from the service,” said Albayalde,
Albayalde said that a part of the information about the involvement of the five police officers came from the counter-intelligence of the PNP. But he assured the five policemen that they would be given due process. (Aaron Recuenco)
