MANILA, Philippines — Brig. Gen. Peter Burgonio of the Philippine Army has been appointed as the acting commander of the Presidential Security Command (PSC), replacing Maj. Gen. Jesus Nelson Morales.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro confirmed the change in PSC leadership yesterday, following an order from Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr.

Malacañang has not provided additional information regarding the reason for Morales’ replacement. President Marcos appointed Morales as PSC commander in October 2023.

Prior to his appointment, Morales served as the deputy commander of the Philippine Air Force’s Air Logistics Command. As the new commander of PSC, Burgonio is responsible for securing the President and Vice President, their families and high-profile visitors.
