Margarita Forés honored by celebrity friends

The death of renowned chef and restaurateur Margarita Forés brought sorrow to her loved ones and to the celebrities who admire her and had worked with her.

Among them was actor Edu Manzano who paid tribute to Margarita via his Instagram page on Wednesday, Feb. 12.

“To my dear friend Margarita, your presence will be deeply missed but your memories will live on in my heart forever,” he said. “I am grateful for the moments we shared and the laughter we created together. Rest in paradise my friend.”

Actress-TV host Maine Mendoza also remembered Margarita whom she regarded as a “true icon in the Philippine culinary scene.”

“I had the privilege of meeting her and was fortunate enough to have her cater our wedding. It was on my wedding bucket list,” she said.

“Her passion and exceptional food touched so many lives and will continue to do so. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she inspired. Rest in peace, Ms. Gaita,” she added.

Ella Pangilinan dedicated a message of gratitude to Margarita via her Instagram Stories.

“I love you, Margarita Fores. Thank you for the best experiences of my life in Florence, my wedding and so much more in between,” she wrote. “Forever in my heart.”

Maiqui Pineda, wife of TV host Robi Domingo, also expressed grief as she recalled how Margarita made the couple’s wedding day special and memorable with her food.

“Until now, people keep raving to us about how good your food was. You will be missed by so so many,” Pineda said.

Several other celebrities including Nadine Lustre, Marian Rivera and Iza Calzado also took to the comments section of Margarita’s son, Amado Forés, to grieve her passing.

Margarita’s death was confirmed by Amado on Tuesday, Feb. 11. She was 65. No cause of death was immediately disclosed.
