Mench Dizon is 1st Filipina to complete World Marathon Majors

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Mench Dizon has become the first Filipina to complete the World Marathon Challenge and the World Marathon Majors.

The World Marathon Challenge is one of the most rigorous endurance events in the world.

Contestants run seven marathons on seven continents in seven days; a 7-7-7 combo of physical stamina, mental strength and sheer willpower.

Specifically, Dizon ran back-to-back 42.2-kilometer races in the following locations: 

  1. Ultima Basecamp (Antarctica)
  2. Cape Town (Africa) 
  3. Perth (Australia) 
  4. Dubai (Asia) 
  5. Madrid (Europe) 
  6. Fortaleza (South America)
  7. Miami (North America)

This grueling challenge also put Dizon against extreme weather conditions, jet lag and minimal recovery time.

Nevertheless, she crossed the final finish line in Miami on February 6, 2025, achieving a feat only an exceptional few have reached.

With this milestone, Dizon becomes the first Filipino woman to complete the World Marathon Challenge and the World Marathon Majors.

She leaves her mark on Philippine history with ambition, perseverance and national pride. 

Mench Dizon is the country head of Yield Guild Games (YGG) Pilipinas.

Moreover, she has been empowering Filipinos to build careers online with the Metaverse Filipino Worker (MFW) movement. 

The Web3 industry is likely to reach $81.5 billion by 2030. 

Moreover, the World Economic Forum projects that emerging innovations will generate 97 million jobs worldwide. 

Consequently, Dizon wants Filipino talent to grab this opportunity with the right education and digital upskilling. 

“I’ve always believed that running is more than just a sport. It’s a way to challenge ourselves beyond what we think is possible,” she stated on the Road 2 Seven website.

“Completing the World Marathon Challenge was not just about proving my endurance but about using my passion for a greater purpose.”
