MANILA, Philippines —  At least one to two typhoons similar in strength to tropical cyclone Kristine may be expected this month, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

“This December, it is possible that one to two typhoons may enter or develop inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR),” PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda said yesterday.

At least 16 typhoons entered PAR this year where Kristine was considered the deadliest.

Castañeda said that at present, the shear line is causing rains in Southern Luzon.

Castañeda said that heavy to intense rains may affect areas in Bicol, Quezon, portions of Mimaropa and Calabarzon.

The northeast monsoon will continue to affect the rest of Luzon, she noted.

No low-pressure area was monitored by PAGASA, she said.

At the same time, Castañeda said that a gale warning was raised in the eastern seaboard of Luzon.

Menwhile, the water level of Angat Dam was up by 0.16 meters after it reached 200.18 meters, according to PAGASA's latest monitoring.

As of 8 a.m. yesterday, the water elevation of Angat Dam was still 11.82 meters below its normal high water level of 212 meters.
