GCash bank transfers down; refunds expected in 24 to 48 hours

Just days after issues of unauthorized deductions from the accounts of its users, popular e-wallet platform GCash again experienced another error.

On Friday afternoon, the Ayala-backed company announced that bank transfers to GCash were unavailable, although the cause is still unclear.

In an advisory issued on Friday also, GCash issued another advisory, to read:

“Bank transfer to GCash will be right back! BancNet is working to restore the service as soon as possible.

“If your bank account was debited, kindly expect your money to be credited to your GCash wallet within 24 to 48 hours.”

“We are working with our partners to restore the service as soon as possible,” GCash told customers in an advisory.

“All affected transactions will be credited back to your GCash wallet within 24-48 hours,” it added.

This comes after GCash confirmed an “internal glitch” that caused unauthorized deduction on balances of its users earlier this month.

GCash clarified that it had not been the work of hackers, as some had speculated.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, which regulates the fintech app, said it would complete by mid-December its investigation into the incident.
