MANILA, Philippines — Despite the advent of technology, stamp collection is not dead, according to Jeremiah Eufemio of the Philippine Stamp Collectors Society (PSCS).

Philately will continue to thrive with stamps featuring subjects that interest millennials, he said.

Eufemio is the committee head of Manna Filatelica 2024 Stamp Exhibit.

He noted that stamps have become more enticing by adjusting to modern times, as they feature current events, pop culture, athletes and beauty queens.

“We even have exhibitors as young as 10 years old because they were engrossed in it,” Eufemio said. “We build a story that builds nostalgia even for the young Filipinos.”

Social media, he said, allows philatelists to connect and promote the hobby of collecting stamps.

“Online marketplaces and digital catalogs make it easier than ever to discover and acquire rare stamps, overcoming geographical barriers that once limited our collections. And with digital archiving and virtual exhibitions, we can preserve and display our collections in ways that were unimaginable just a few years ago,” he said at the stamp exhibit at SM San Lazaro in Manila on Oct. 10.

The PSCS and Philippine Postal Corp. have also mounted the exhibit in Davao and Cebu.
