Seventeen’s Jeonghan begins military service as social service worker

Yoon Jeong-han — also known as Seventeen’s Jeonghan — started his military service on Thursday, Sept. 26, making him the first member of the group to do so.

Jeonghan entered the training camp around 1:00 p.m., Philippine time, where he will receive basic military training for some time, per a report from Korean media outlet Dispatch. He will then finish the remainder of his service as a social service worker.

The Seventeen member thanked the group’s fans (or Carats) on the fan community platform Weverse on Wednesday, Sept. 25, a day before his enlistment.

“I will always thank Carats for their love and support for [our activities]. Eat well and sleep well. I’m sure you’re doing well, so don’t worry! Carats, stay healthy, and see you again. I’ll be back safely! I love you,” he wrote.

His post earned the attention of his bandmates, Wonwoo, S.coups, The8, and Jun in the comments.

Jeonghan is the first Seventeen member to enlist in the military. His enlistment was confirmed by his agency Pledis Entertainment earlier this month.

He debuted as the lead vocalist and visual of Seventeen in May 2015 and is also part of the group’s Vocal Unit. He is also a member of the sub-unit Jeonghan x Wonwoo, and they released their first single album in June 2024.
