Heavy rain to occur in Metro Manila, 11 Luzon provinces in next 2 hrs

MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rain will occur in Metro Manila and 11 provinces in Luzon in the next two hours on Saturday, September 21, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In a thunderstorm advisory issued at 1:53 p.m., Pagasa said Metro Manila, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Bulacan, and Cavite will experience moderate to heavy rain showers with lightning and strong winds within the next two hours.

It also said that while the same weather conditions are already being felt in portions of Batangas (Santo Tomas, Tanauan, Malvar, Lipa, San Juan, Rosario, Lobo), Rizal (Pililla, Cardona, Binangonan, Teresa, Morong, Baras), Laguna (Santa Maria, Siniloan, Pangil, Pakil, Paete, Kalayaan), Pampanga (Porac, Guagua, Santa Rita, Bacolor, Minalin, Macabebe, Sasmuan, Masantol, Floridablanca, Lubao), Zambales (Botolan, San Marcelino, San Narciso, San Felipe), and Quezon (Real, Mauban, Sampaloc, Lucban), it would persist in these areas during the same period.

Pagasa warned residents of affected localities to take precaution as flash floods and landslides may happen due to the rains.

Earlier Saturday, the state weather agency said the southwest monsoon, which is locally called habagat, would bring rains to many parts of the country.

Tropical Depression Igme exited the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Saturday morning. It was the low pressure area that formed off Batanes, inside PAR and intensified into a tropical depression on Friday afternoon.
