Barcelona have finally completed this season’s matchday wardrobe with the release of their new third kit, which stands as a minty green ode to the success their women’s team have enjoyed over the past few years.

Barcelona Femini have been busy collecting silverware at an unprecedented rate, with a golden era beginning in 2019-20 that has seen the side win three Champions Leagues, four Liga F titles, four Copa de la Reinas and four Spanish Supercopa Femeninas.

Their players have also dominated the Women’s Ballon d’Or for the past three years with Alexia Putellas (twice, back-to-back) and Aitana Bonmatí taking the plaudits in 2021, 2022 and 2023 respectively.

As such, Barca’s new third kit is a testament to the resurgence of their women’s side with near-fluorescent green symbolising the hope and rebirth of the team as well as the dawning of a brand new and vibrant era. With a circle sitting above a cross, the repeated graphic print visible on the shirt serves as a stylised representation of the female gender symbol.

As with many of Nike’s third strip designs for their select elite teams, the Swoosh on the chest has also been doubled and inverted to signify that the kit forms part of the brand’s “Together We Rise” movement — a celebration of the pivotal role women’s football is playing in the growth of the modern game.
