Binay, Cayetano to discuss dispute in private

MANILA, Philippines — The Senate committee on ethics and privileges will hold a conciliation meeting behind closed doors between Senators Nancy Binay and Alan Peter Cayetano, who recently engaged in a heated argument over the construction of the new Senate building in Taguig City.

“This will allow senators involved in an ethics complaint to meet and resolve issues privately, in the presence of the committee chair and its members,” Sen. Francis Tolentino, the committee chair, told reporters.

Binay had filed an ethics complaint against Cayetano for his “offensive, derogatory and improper” remarks. —Tina G. Santos
