BOC nabs Colombian national over liquid cocaine parcel

MANILA, Philippines — Bureau of Customs (BOC) operatives arrested a 32-year-old Colombian national over a shipment of liquid cocaine.

The agency said its personnel at Port of Clark and members of the the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested the Colombian national on June 25. It neither divulged the name of the suspect and where he was arrested.

According to the bureau, the package for the alleged consignee arrived on June 21 and was declared as clothing.

However, upon further inspection, the contents of the package were revealed to be more than 1,600 grams of liquid cocaine, which has an estimated value of P8.5 million.

The suspect is currently undergoing investigation, the BOC added.

“Through rigorous inspections and coordinated efforts with other law enforcement agencies, we aim to safeguard the nation from the dangers of drug trafficking and ensure the safety and welfare of all Filipinos,” BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio said in a statement.
