Magnitude 4.4 earthquake hits off Surigao del Norte town

A magnitude-4.4 earthquake hit near the waters of Burgos, Surigao del Norte, on Wednesday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.4 earthquake hit near the waters off Burgos, Surigao del Norte, on Wednesday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The temblor occurred at 4:47 p.m. and was located 34 kilometers northeast of Burgos.

Instrumental intensities were recorded in the following areas:

  • Intensity II: Hinunangan, Southern Leyte
