3 dead, 17 hurt in Fairview multi-vehicle accident
MANILA, Philippines — Three people died, while 17 others were injured after a bus driver lost control of his vehicle and figured in a road accident with a UV Express, six motorcycles, and a taxi in Fairview, Quezon City, on Monday night.
In a report released on Tuesday, the Quezon City Police District (QPCD) said the 42-year-old driver, Rolly Canapi Pascua, lost control of the bus as it reached the corner of Fairlane Road toward Commonwealth Avenue.
The bus eventually hit two motorcycles and a UV Express from behind. Despite the impact, police said the bus continued to move forward, hitting four more motorcycles and a taxi.
According to QCPD, 20 victims were brought to the nearest hospital, including the three who were declared dead on arrival.
Police reported that Pascua was arrested and will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple damage to property, multiple physical injuries and multiple homicides before the QC Prosecutor’s office.
QCPD said the extent of the damage caused by the multi-vehicle accident has yet to be determined.
