2 fishermen rescued days after boat capsizes off Batangas

MANILA, Philippines — The two previously missing fishermen in Batangas were rescued in Occidental Mindoro after almost three days, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Thursday.

PCG vessel BRP Malapascua safely transported the survivors, Wilbert Binay, 45, and Edgar Glen Binay, 42, from Sitio Butong in Barangay Bulacan, Lubang town, to Batangas International Port in Sta Clara town.

“The fishermen promptly contacted their sister, reporting being swept ashore in Barangay Bulacan,” the PCG said in a statement.

Investigations revealed that their fishing boat Motorbanca Velocity capsized due to engine trouble and rough seas around 4 p.m. on Feb. 12 off Tingloy waters.
