USAID extends P300-M aid to DepEd

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has pledged to donate nearly P300 million to the Department of Education (DepEd) to help address the country’s education challenges. A total of P283 million ($5 million) will be donated to the DepEd as part of USAID’s five-year project Improving Learning Outcomes for the Philippines (ILO-Ph). According to the US Embassy, the USAID through ILO-Ph, will provide the DepEd with on-demand technical assistance, regular consultations and training to improve its strategic communications and data analysis systems. “This will enable DepEd to better track the progress of Filipino learners in standardized examinations and measure learning recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,” the embassy read. —Jacob Lazaro
