Converge ventures into entertainment streaming

MANILA  -Converge ICT Solutions Inc. is envisioning itself to become a digital one-stop shop for Filipinos with the launch of a TV streaming platform and potential entry into the gaming space.

On Tuesday, the internet service provider launched its partnership with BlastTV, which is operated by local media company Tap Digital Media Ventures Corp. (TapDMV).

The streaming platform is available to all Converge subscribers for free. It is bundled with the customers’ internet deals.

It has a portfolio of movies and TV series. The portal also has sports channels such as Sports+, Golf+, Fight Ticket, Cue, BlastFC, UFC TV, Outdoor Channel, and USA Today Sports.

“Filipinos, especially Converge subscribers, deserve this kind of entertainment,” Converge co-founder and CEO Dennis Uy told reporters in Taguig on Tuesday.

Uy said providing such offering was part of Converge’s goal of providing value-added services to customers.

“BlastTV is an accessible platform within the comfortable confines of your WiFi-enabled home that caters to the viewing interests of every household member. Whether you are using your tablet, laptop or smart TV in your house, BlastTV has curated a content line-up that is as varied as it is engaging,” TapDMV president and CEO Celine’s de Gaia said.

Converge made its foray into online streaming business amid the changing viewing behavior by consumers given the rise of over-the-top platforms like Netflix and Disney+.

In the future, Uy also hinted on making gaming products available to subscribers as the company aspires to build a digital service portfolio with wide array of offerings.
