Cops intercept 3 trucks, backhoe in alleged illegal quarry in Quezon province
LUCENA CITY — Police intercepted on Tuesday, July 11, three trucks and a backhoe being used in illegal quarrying in Mauban town.
Quezon police said in a report on Wednesday that members of the Provincial Mining and Regulatory Board (PMRB), assisted by local cops, intercepted the three trucks and the backhoe in Barangay Polo around 4:30 p.m.
The report said the backhoe was loaded with rocks and other mineral resources that were illegally extracted.
Police said the four drivers failed to produce a permit from the PMRB.
Mining activities in the province are under the control and supervision of the PRMB.
The vehicles and quarry equipment were confiscated based on Department of Environment and Natural Resources Administrative Order No. 96-40 (Confiscation of Mineral Products, Tools, Equipment and Conveyance)
The drivers, trucks and the back-hoe were placed under temporary custody of the local police station.
