MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is re-evaluating the list of beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) who are about to “graduate” next month.

DSWD Assistant Secretary Romel Lopez made the clarification in a statement yesterday in response to the appeal of some “exiting” families to be retained in the program.

He noted that the graduating families are undergoing a thorough assessment to evaluate their living conditions after benefiting from the cash assistance given through the 4Ps campaign.

“Families identified to have helped themselves out of poverty will no longer receive cash grants starting from Pay Period 6, which covers the months of December 2022 and January 2023,” he added.

As a result of the reassessment, some households will temporarily not receive cash grants.

Some 700,000 were projected to graduate from 4Ps after improving their lives.

According to Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian, graduating 4Ps beneficiaries are assured of “continued support” from the local and national governments and the private sector.

Gatchalian said they will be formally endorsed by DSWD to their respective local governments, along with their case folders, to serve as “guide for the Local Social Welfare and Development Office in implementing programs and services that the families may need.”
