PNP deploys 96 cops to remote areas in Mindoro provinces for immersion

MANILA, Philippines — Ninety-six patrolmen were deployed in remote areas in Mindoro provinces for a 90-day community immersion to help them understand and address the insurgency problem in the country, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Wednesday.
“The 96 Community Immersion Program participants will be deployed to various geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas or barangays in the provinces of Oriental and Occidental Mindoro,” PNP said in a statement.
According to Police Regional Office 4B director Police Brig. Gen. Joel Doria, the program also hopes to address the cause of communist insurgency nationwide.
He added that he hoped the immersion would equip dispatched patrolmen with “the right mindset and knowledge for engaging with target communities in the hopes of turning their minds and hearts towards the government.”
Aside from launching the immersion, the Police Regional Office 4B also turned over 1,500 food packs to Naujan Municipal Police Station, Oriental Mindoro Provincial Police Office (PPO), and Occidental Mindoro PPO.
These food packs will be distributed among low-income families, communities affected by the oil spill in the municipality of Naujan, Oriental Mindoro, and geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas within the province, PNP said.
