VP Sara condoles with family of slain teacher in Cotabato town

COTABATO CITY – Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte visited on Sunday the wake and paid her last respects to a teacher in Pikit town, Cotabato province who was gunned down while heading home from school on May 26.

Duterte, on board a chopper on her way to Davao City from here where she opened a satellite office of the Office of the Vice President, took a brief stopover in Pikit to visit the wake of teacher Joel Reformado.

Reformado, 36, a teacher of Damalasak Elementary School, was on board a motorbike with fellow teacher Elton John Lapined, 37, when they were ambushed by still unidentified gunmen in front of Manaulanan Elementary School.

Reformado died on the spot while Lapined was injured and is still recuperating in an undisclosed hospital. Reformado was laid to rest on Sunday.
