Binibining Pilipinas’ dropping of P-pop group Alamat’s performance from telecast irks filmmaker
Filmmaker Jason Paul Laxamana expressed dismay after Alamat was not included in the telecast of the Binibining Pilipinas 2023 pageant on Sunday, even though the P-pop group was included in the lineup of performers during the coronation night.
Alamat has been announced to be one of the performers, as seen on its official social media pages, alongside Vice Ganda and Darren Espanto. The group performed “Maharani,” “Say U Love Me,” “Sa Panaginip Na Lang,” “Aswang,” and “Gayuma” during the gap between the final two segments.
However, the group’s performances were not included in the pageant’s telecast, including on its official YouTube account where the coronation night was livestreamed.
This prompted Laxamana, who serves as the singers’ creative director, to take to his personal Twitter page to air his disappointment, minutes after the coronation night finished airing.
“Someday, all of you will not dare cut them off. Someday,” he said.
Someday, all of you will not dare cut them off.
Someday.

The group’s fans also didn’t hide their disappointment over the matter, with some noting that their songs would’ve been perfect for the pageant’s segments.
One @ifty1D19 said: “[D]espite not seeing their performance on the livestream, we’re certain that the boys gave it their all just like how they always do. I hope that the world will see too how amazing performers they are haysss.”

Another @chckenhakdog pointed out that it was “unfair” for Alamat’s performances to not be included in the telecast, as they hoped that official footage would at least be released.
“I felt it was really unfair to not air Alamat’s performance. Kahit 2 songs to be aired ‘di nagawa??? Magiliws waited for this and it was Alamat’s spotlight to be recognized by casuals in the pageant community. Disappointing,” they wrote.
felt the injustice and unfair treatment.
The disappointment is there but atleast release an official footage of Alamat’s performance????

Twitter user @eyesonMO said Alamat didn’t deserve the treatment that was given to them, saying, “Alamat. my boys, none of [you] deserve this. I can only imagine the frustration y’all felt earlier with the tech prob & now learning abt ur performance being cut.”

Alamat is a six-member boy group composed of Taneo, Mo, Jao, Tomas, R-Ji, and Alas, and are known for their hit songs “Maharani,” “kasmala,” and “Sa Panaginip Na Lang,” where the aforementioned song was featured in the soundtrack of the film “Expensive Candy.”
The sextet was recently named among the most notable international groups that are “stepping into the global spotlight” by Canada-based pop culture platform MsMojo in April 2023. The list also includes fellow P-pop boy groups SB19 and BGYO.
The Binibining Pilipinas Charities Incorporated (BPCI) has yet to issue a statement, as of this writing. EDV
