PBA: Abu Tratter makes Magnolia debut in romp of Blackwater

MANILA, Philippines—Abu Tratter made a statement in his first game for Magnolia, helping the Hotshots gain a 117-83 victory over Blackwater in the PBA On Tour on Sunday at Ynares Sports Center in Pasig.

Tratter, who was acquired by Magnolia via trade a month ago, tallied 14 points and seven rebounds to help the Hotshots rout the Bossing in dominant fashion, much to the delight of coach Chito Victolero.

“He’s doing okay and I think he can still add a lot to his arsenal. You can see there are still mistakes and breakdowns but for his start, I’m very happy,” told Victolero in Filipino.

“Our spot in the front line really needs someone and Abu is a big help on both sides of the floor.”

Tratter also shot an efficient 66 percent clip from the field, sinking six of his nine attempts from the floor.

The Hotshots put up a masterclass in the first half, playing effectively on both ends of the court.

Magnolia held a comfortable 31-19 lead at the end of the first frame and limited Blackwater to just 11 points in the second quarter for a commanding 68-30 advantage at the intermission.

The Hotshots kept their feet on the gas pedal in the second half, preventing any comeback attempt by the Bossing.

Mark Barroca and Jerrick Ahanmisi helped Magnolia’s cause with 14 points of their own. Aris Dionisio also chipped in 12 in the victory.

James Sena scored a team-high 11 points on top of five boards while Rashawn McCarthy and RK Ilagan added 10 points each.
